Project Manager

Sarah Wilkins is a Project Manager for AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange. Prior to joining AGU, Sarah worked as the Coordinator of the Chesapeake Bay Sentinel Site Cooperative for Maryland Sea Grant Extension. There, she directed and led a network of scientists and managers working to integrate science from local observations across the Chesapeake Bay to improve planning and management decisions regarding sea level rise and coastal ecological changes. Sarah brings 10 years of experience in community-based collaboration and stakeholder engagement from the local, regional and national scales. In 2007 she co-led the Vermont Lay Monitoring Program which trains and equips citizen scientists to sample and track water quality across Vermont’s inland lakes and Lake Champlain stations. She has a Master of Science in Conservation Biology & Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont in Environmental Science. Her Masters work involved the use of Collaborative Learning techniques to encourage systems thinking, joint learning and open communication between community leaders, scientists and resource managers.  Sarah has worked all over the country on coastal and estuarine projects for non-profit, academia and governmental agencies. In her free time, Sarah enjoys tending to her garden full of heirloom vegetables, hiking and kayaking, and discovering new recipes.
