Founding Partner Stratiscope
John Bwarie is the founding partner of Stratiscope, which provides strategy and communications services to businesses, government, institutions, and individuals. With Stratiscope, John has worked with community and industry leaders across the US in various sectors to build coalitions and awareness for clients in retail, government, and science/technology. Until July 2013, he spent 3 years working for the SAFRR Project at USGS to help communities reduce their natural hazard threats by directing new and existing science toward vulnerabilities, producing innovative products, and assuring that the benefit and results are effectively communicated. Prior to joining the USGS, John spent 10 years working for the Los Angeles Mayor and City Council primarily overseeing economic and community development. John is also serves an L.A. Mayor-appointed Commissioner overseeing EL Pueblo (LA’s historic birthplace) and is an expert on food and Los Angeles. John started his professional interaction with hazard science as one of the primary architects of the original Great ShakeOut that led to 5.5 million participants in 2008, but he started his career teaching high school in Watts, CA, after graduating from UC San Diego.
