Granite City plans to have their sustainability plan complete by June 2016. Dr. Jay Turner has been instrumental in helping the city review its sustainability plan. Because of his work with the city, Turner will be having his students engage in two projects that are based upon Granite City’s existing priorities. One project will draw upon preliminary greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory work another student had done, and complete it with the assistance of a team of chemical engineering and policy students. The second project is a passive sampling study of particulate matter in the city. Regardless, Turner anticipates being a part of Granite City’s implementation of the sustainability plan based upon specific air quality areas for which the city could use his expertise.
